ESTA

It was in 1972 that the austrian teacher Professor Marianne Kromer founded ESTA .The intention was to stimulate the exchange of cultural and pedagogical experiences at an international level.During the following years ESTA grew thanks to the support and determination of several artist of indisputable international fame who participated as presidents Max Rostal,Yehudi Menuhin,Siegfried Palm in the past and Igor Ozim in the present.The international ESTA gave birth the its national satellites,each with its own statutes,its own president and its own board of directors or central committee.At the moment ESTA comprises 29 associated countries,thousands of members made up of teachers,concert artists,students and amateurs and is recognised by the Council of Europe.
The central committee of ‘ESTA-International'organises a high level international conference every year and publishes a yearly magazine.The next international conferences will be held in Malta (March 2005) and Tallin (Estonia 2006).

ESTA came to light in Italy in1976, the first president was Arrigo Pelliccia followed by Lilia d'Albore,Piero Farulli and Renato Zanettovitch.The first central committee was composed of Arrigo Pelliccia, Bruno Giuranna, Dino Asciolla, Lilia d'Albore, Felix Ayo, Aurelio Arcidiacoco and Alfonso Ghedin.
These artists,famous in Italy and in the international field,were aware of the difficult situation that confronted musical education and its divulgence and wanted to both conserve and renew the grand tradition of our country.
It is worth remembering that the numerous activites of ESTA-Italia include the twice yearly magazine ESTA-Quaderno, the numerous conferences, the meetings for the youngest players,the seminars and training for teachers,the masterclassses and the historical research with monogragh lectures dedicated to the great string players of the past.
